Teasel raising develops the pile style during woollen wet finishing. It can work alongside the separate steel-wire raising operation later in dry finishing. QL’s Teasel Raising Machine WPF-CG controls raising through multiple contact points, cylinder speed and reciprocating traverse; a water trough and light padder are available for ripple-effect fabrics.
Where this machine sits in the line, and what comes before and after
On the woollen stock-dyed and piece-dyed routes, WPF-CG follows WPF-SSMDX wet brushing and setting, then hands off to squeezing and drying. Wet fabric from crabbing moves through these wet treatments before entering dry finishing.
Steel-wire raising after drying and conditioning uses a different machine and operation, repeated with shearing according to the pile requirement. The teasel options on WPF-CG should not be confused with that later steel-wire raising station.
What it changes in the fabric, top or yarn: handle, dimensional stability, lustre, cleanliness
WPF-CG develops and aligns pile for directional and ripple-effect finishes. Each cylinder has four contact points with adjustable fabric-to-teasel distance. Cylinder speed, fabric speed and traverse rate are set separately to coordinate contact with fabric movement.
The upper-and-lower twin-cylinder configuration can raise one face or both faces simultaneously. Natural and steel-wire teasels are interchangeable; ripple effects are determined with the wet process and optional trough and light padder, not assumed from a teasel change alone.
Why this machine is necessary: what happens without it, or with another method
The QL Multi-Contact Adjustable Raising System stores contact positions with the process for recall when changing quality. Independently adjustable cylinder speed and traverse, together with separate feed, traction and delivery tension settings, provide control for different pile samples.
WPF-CG is available as single-cylinder, upper-and-lower twin-cylinder or multiple linked cylinders. Select for the face-treatment requirement, production organisation and target style. Review the sample together with wet brushing, squeezing and drying connections.
Setting the parameters: temperature, tension, speed, time
WPF-CG has a working width of 1,800–2,200 mm, fabric speed of 0–30 m/min, adjustable cylinder speed of 50–100 r/min and a 60 mm cylinder traverse. Set contact distance, traverse rate, cylinder speed and sectional tensions for the fabric and required pile.
Power and dimensions quoted for the twin-cylinder version should not be applied to single-cylinder or linked configurations. Give QL the width, face requirements and directional-pile or ripple sample to review options and trials.
The questions customers ask most
- Must wet teasel raising and dry steel-wire raising be alternatives? No. Both can be used in one route, with different positions and effects.
- Can double-face fabric run in one passage? The upper-and-lower twin-cylinder WPF-CG can raise both faces simultaneously.
- Which options are used for ripple effects? Select the water trough and light padder for the process and confirm traverse settings against the sample.
