Scouring removes oil, size or milling liquor so fabric reaches the next operation clean. QL’s Rope Scouring Machine WPF-XN combines low-liquor-ratio washing with several ropes in one bath. Each rope is sprayed under pressure, then squeezed between the scouring rollers to remove liquor carrying the loosened contamination.
Where this machine sits in the line, and what comes before and after
On clean-face worsted routes, WPF-XN washes out weaving oils, size and stains. On milled worsteds, woollens and wool-blend knits using separate milling and scouring, it follows the Wool Milling Machine WPF-1S to remove milling liquor. Woven rope routes then open the fabric as specified; knitted fabric stays tubular through wet processing and any required dyeing, before slitting.
Separate machines allow milling and scouring to be scheduled independently. The Four-Channel Wool Scouring and Milling Machine WPF-4XS provides the combined alternative. Worsted and woollen qualities requiring open-width washing can use WPF-JXPX after opening.
What it changes in the fabric, top or yarn: handle, dimensional stability, lustre, cleanliness
WPF-XN primarily improves cleanliness, with mechanical action also influencing handle. A full-width pair of rollers circulates several fabric ropes through the same bath. Each rope has its own spray opening, followed by squeezing to remove contaminated liquor. A collector returns liquor during washing and sends it to drain during rinsing.
After leaving the rollers, fabric strikes the pneumatic impact board before returning to the bath. The board position adjusts the additional mechanical action to the quality; woollen bulk and a supple handle on fine worsteds are assessed against the required sample.
Why this machine is necessary: what happens without it, or with another method
WPF-XN suits mills that want several ropes circulating under one washing process. The QL High-Efficiency Scouring System combines individual rope spraying, circulation filtration, temperature holding, level control and automatic dosing in one liquor circuit.
All ropes in the bath share the process. Loading several ropes does not give each rope an independent liquor or temperature. Compare separate milling and scouring, combined treatment and open-width washing against the complete route.
Setting the parameters: temperature, tension, speed, time
WPF-XN has a stated speed range of 0–150 m/min and a batch capacity of 15 worsted or 10 woollen pieces. These are equipment specifications, not a universal loading or processing recipe. Set speed, water temperature, liquid level, dosing and impact-board position for the fabric; rubber or wooden rollers are selected for the process.
Give QL the fibre composition, fabric weight, piece length, current washing route and delivery requirements so batch size and handling can be reviewed together.
The questions customers ask most
- Why scour after milling? Milling liquor and oil must be removed before later processing; WPF-XN performs this step in the separate-machine route.
- Can each piece use different bath settings? WPF-XN runs several ropes under one process, so group compatible qualities.
- Must knitted fabric be slit first? The wool-blend knit route shown here mills and scours in tubular form, then slits after any required dyeing.
