Wet brushing aligns the pile on both sides of woollen fabric before teasel raising, squeezing and drying. QL’s Wet Brushing and Setting Machine WPF-SSMDX combines lower and upper brushing zones in one passage for double-face cloth, directional-pile coating and other wool, cashmere and blended pile fabrics.
Where this machine sits in the line, and what comes before and after
Both woollen routes follow crabbing → WPF-SSMDX wet brushing and setting → WPF-CG teasel raising → squeezing → drying. Crabbing can use WPF-ZN or the continuous crabbing section of WPF-LXZH; both deliver wet fabric to the brushing stage.
The continuous drying section of WPF-LXZH is a separate, later station. It follows wet brushing, teasel raising and squeezing. Distinguishing the two sections preserves the wet pile-treatment stages between them.
What it changes in the fabric, top or yarn: handle, dimensional stability, lustre, cleanliness
WPF-SSMDX primarily aligns pile in the wet state. After immersion and squeezing, fabric passes four lower brushes and then four upper brushes, treating each face in turn. Subsequent drying maintains the brushed direction.
The entry padder removes excess water and auxiliaries; the delivery padder controls retained liquor. Two high-speed cleaning brushes after the delivery padder remove loose fibre, while a collection tray receives fibre from the lower brushing zone.
Why this machine is necessary: what happens without it, or with another method
Double-face fabric needs both surfaces treated. The QL Twin-Zone Wet Brushing System on WPF-SSMDX treats them in one passage. Eight brushing rollers have independent drives, speed, brush-distance adjustment and start/stop control; one zone can be used for a single-face quality.
Wet brushing aligns the pile, while WPF-CG performs the following wet teasel-raising task. They work together on the woollen routes. WPF-SM later cleans and aligns the surface in dry finishing; these are distinct operations.
Setting the parameters: temperature, tension, speed, time
The standard arrangement has four upper and four lower brushes plus two delivery cleaning brushes. Fabric speed is 0–24 m/min and brush speed 0–325 r/min. A roller face of 1,800 mm corresponds to a maximum working width of 1,600 mm; a 2,200 mm roller-face option suits 2,000 mm fabric.
Set brush speeds and distances, padder pressures and fabric tensions for the pile requirement. Give QL the single- or double-face requirement, pile style, width and incoming wet condition when selecting the brush arrangement and delivery system.
The questions customers ask most
- Must double-face cloth be turned for a second pass? The standard WPF-SSMDX treats both faces successively through its two brushing zones in one passage.
- What about single-face qualities? Run one brushing zone and select the roller combination for the quality.
- Why before drying? This station aligns wet pile; the woollen route then continues through teasel raising, squeezing and drying.
