Discontinuous Open Width Washing Machine (WPF-JXPX)

Keeps the fabric open-width instead of roped, so it comes out free of rope-scouring creases, evenly treated, and clean of spinning oil, size and soap liquor.

The WPF-JXPX is a discontinuous open-width washing machine: the whole piece is sewn end to end into a loop and stays in open width throughout the wash, never gathered into rope form. Kept in open width throughout and never gathered into rope form, it avoids the creases rope scouring presses in, leaving the fabric evenly treated; washing itself is carried by two nip pairs in series and high-pressure side sprays. QL offers this open-width washing machine on worsted and woollen routes, as the alternative to the rope scouring machine, the WPF-XN.

Where this machine sits in the line, and what comes before and after

WPF-JXPX is the open-width alternative to WPF-XN rope scouring for clean-face worsteds. Woven qualities requiring milling can also run through WPF-1S, be opened, and then enter WPF-JXPX to remove milling liquor. Fabric leaves washing in open width, without an additional opening stage caused by this wash.

The next operation depends on the route. Worsted routes follow their selected crabbing position and dyeing method; woollen stock-dyed fabric is crabbed after washing and milling, while woollen piece-dyed fabric is dyed first and then crabbed. A single wash → crab → dye sequence does not cover them all.

What it changes in the fabric, top or yarn: handle, dimensional stability, lustre, cleanliness

This washing machine sews the whole piece end to end into a loop and runs it in open width throughout the wash, never gathered into rope form, removing the creases rope scouring leaves behind. Washing itself is carried by two pairs of squeeze rollers in series: ahead of each pair, high-pressure sprays play on the face and back of the fabric, rinsing off surface soil and dust. On every circuit the fabric passes both nips, each one pressing out the liquor held within the fabric, now laden with dissolved oily soil — spinning oil, size and general soil are washed out this way, and the same wash removes soap liquor left over from wool milling. High-pressure spray pipes at either side spread the fabric flat, the spreader roller opens it out and the guide roller keeps it centred, so the fabric comes out free of curled selvedges.

Why this machine is necessary: what happens without it, or with another method

WPF-JXPX keeps open-width woven fabric flat throughout circulating washing and delivery to the next operation. Two roller pairs work with front-and-back spraying to introduce and squeeze out liquor, while spreading and centring support fabric transport.

After milling, this path first opens the fabric, then washes out milling liquor in open width. Compared with WPF-XN rope scouring, the distinction is processing form and handling between stations. Select for the quality, batch and layout; QL can review washing form together with crabbing and dyeing sequence.

Setting the parameters: temperature, tension, speed, time

Speed is adjustable from 0 to 100 m/min. The two nips run in series, and roller pressure is adjustable. The liquor is heated directly by steam and temperature-controlled automatically. The exact temperature is set by trial on each quality — ask QL for the process sheet. Maximum batch load is 180 kg, on a working width of 2,000 mm.

The questions customers ask most

  • Should scouring be rope-form (WPF-XN) or open-width (WPF-JXPX)?
  • Can the WPF-JXPX open-width washing machine be used on knitted fabric?
  • What about curled selvedges, and wet fabric being stretched?
  • Does open-width washing get the fabric clean?
  • Rope scouring presses in creases and washes unevenly — can the fabric stay unfolded?
  • After milling, we want to wash out the soap liquor in open width — how?

Which process routes it appears on

Read WPF-JXPX in the context of these routes: worsted top-dyed, worsted piece-dyed, woollen stock-dyed, woollen piece-dyed. Follow each branch to understand the equipment choice; a required process does not mean every quality uses the same model.

Give QL the fabric or top sample, existing upstream and downstream stations, and target finish to review configuration and process connections together.
